Calling the wrong office is the most common delay in a warrant question. This site cannot look up a name or confirm a warrant for anyone. We are a private reference page with no access to court or sheriff systems. What we can do is point you to the office that holds the answer. The Sheriff's Office answers status questions. The clerk of the court that issued the warrant keeps the case file. District Court handles most traffic and lower-level criminal matters. Choose the office that matches your question, call on a weekday, and have a case, citation, or warrant number ready if you have one.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, recall or clear a warrant, post bond, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice to anyone. For any of those, contact the Sheriff's Office or the court that issued the warrant directly.

Need Official Warrant Information?

For most questions about a real warrant, the fastest route is a phone call to the office that holds the record rather than a records request. Match your question to the right desk:

  • Whether a warrant is active: the Sheriff's Office warrant line at (410) 222-1570, which handles warrant status and service questions
  • Warrant paperwork and service records: Document & Warrant Control at (410) 222-1490
  • Civil process and non-support warrants: Civil Process & Non-Support Warrant Control at (410) 222-1189
  • The court file behind the warrant: the clerk of the court that issued it, either the Circuit Court clerk or the District Court clerk for the case location
  • A missed court date: the court that set the case, which is usually one of the two District Court locations listed below

The Sheriff's Office administration is at 8 Church Circle, Suite 400, Annapolis, MD 21401, and the office accepts email at shwebmail@aacounty.org. General tips go to 410-LOOKOUT, (410) 566-5688. Sheriff's Office Field Operations sits at 2009-F Commerce Park Drive, but that address is an operational office, so call before planning a visit there.

The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County keeps criminal, civil, family, and juvenile files at 8 Church Circle, Annapolis, MD 21401. The clerk's general number is (410) 222-1397, and the criminal department, which handles warrants, body attachments, and bond questions during business hours, is (410) 222-1420. District Court has two public counters in the county: 251 Rowe Boulevard, Annapolis, MD 21401 at (410) 260-1370, and 7500 Governor Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD 21061 at (410) 260-1800.

Court clerk counters normally run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Commissioner offices keep separate hours, and the Glen Burnie commissioner office stays open around the clock, so an after-hours custody or initial appearance question should go there rather than to a records counter. Bail is not paid at the detention center. Payment runs through the clerk or the commissioner process that set the terms.

If you want a copy of a record rather than a status answer, the county routes those requests through its Maryland Public Information Act portal at aacounty.org/pia. State's Attorney records use that office's own request form, which returns to asksao@aacounty.org. Police reports are separate again: county police requests go through Central Records at 8495 Veterans Highway, Millersville, (410) 222-8750, and Annapolis police reports go through that city's Central Records desk at 199 Taylor Avenue.

One caution applies to every number above. Maryland courts do not text or email demands for warrant payments or personal information, and fake bench warrant and toll threats circulate regularly. If a message asks you to pay to clear a warrant, ignore it and call the Sheriff's Office or the clerk at a number you looked up yourself. The Judiciary posts its own warning about warrant payment scams.
